STAR WARS AT-AT WALKER HOTH EMPIRE STRIKES BACK VINTAGE KENNER

This custom Star Wars AT-AT is a finished piece of my painting work, with attention given to the hull, armour panels, legs and exposed machinery. The original walker provides the shape; my work gives it its individual character, through colour, depth and carefully placed wear.

I work with airbrush and hand-brush, building the finish in layers. Dark washes bring out the recesses, changes in panel colour break up the broad armour, and metallic highlights pick out the mechanical details. I place scuffs, chipped edges and grime where they help the machine feel convincing, balancing worn surfaces with cleaner areas so the detailing remains clear.

On a piece this size, those decisions need to work together across the whole AT-AT. The body needs to feel heavy, the joints need depth, and the weathering needs to connect the upper armour with the machinery below. It should have presence from across the room and reward a closer look.
