GI Joe Cobra Custom Assault Walker Vintage Collectible

Yellow Cobra markings stand out against battered dark armour on this custom GI Joe assault walker. With its raised cockpit, twin chin cannons and large rear fan, I pictured it stalking through a Cobra installation, guarding the approaches against a Joe raid.

The curved hull carries a mottled metallic finish, with darker staining around the machinery and worn edges around the cockpit. I’ve kept the yellow markings visible through the weathering, using them to draw attention to the armour and long supporting legs.

The weapons are an important part of this piece. Beneath the cockpit, the paired barrels give it a strong forward focus, while the side-mounted guns add detail around the exposed mechanisms. I’ve picked out their fittings and barrel edges individually, working washes into the gaps between components.

Around the rear fan housing, orange accents break up the dark metal. The fan blades, pipes and leg joints each have their own shading and wear, so there’s painting to explore around the back as well as from the front.

Cobra equipment often has an animal-like menace, and that was the connection I wanted here: an elevated, insect-like machine with its pilot sitting above the guns, looking down on anyone approaching.
