GI Joe Cobra Custom Diorama Base Command Vintage Headquarters Collectible

This is one of my larger GI Joe diorama pieces, built around the idea of a heavily armed forward base that has been operating for a long time rather than something fresh out of a factory.

I went with a strong yellow and black industrial colour scheme across the whole piece, tying the tower, platforms and lower gun emplacement together as one installation. I wanted the yellow to feel worn and functional rather than bright and clean, so I worked in washes, chipped edges, grime, scuffs and darker staining around the areas where crews would be constantly climbing, loading and working.

The metallic sections have been picked out individually, with the guns, tracks, stairs and mechanical details given different tones so everything doesn’t disappear into one block of silver. I’ve also added small panel changes, warning markings and restrained detailing throughout to give the base that slightly improvised, battle-used GI Joe feel.

It has a lot going on from every angle, particularly the raised gun tower and the lower tracked platform, so it works as a complete scene rather than something that only photographs well from the front.
