Star Wars Custom Y-Wing Bomber Starfighter Vintage Collectible

Exposed engines, oversized weapons and a worn metallic finish give this custom Star Wars Y-Wing bomber the appearance of a craft kept flying through a long campaign against the Empire. Purple cockpit windows stand out against the dark hull, while the machinery behind the pilot is packed with individually painted detail.

The stripped-back engineering of the Y-Wing is what makes it such an enjoyable piece to work on. I’ve used dark washes between the pipes, engine bands and mechanical housings, then picked out their raised edges with metallic highlights. There’s a lot of close brushwork here, separating neighbouring components so you can follow the machinery along the hull.

The substantial gun assemblies give this bomber a heavier attack role. Their barrels and mounts carry the same scuffed finish as the surrounding engines, with darker shading in the recesses and exposed-metal wear along the edges.

Across the nose and cockpit framing, I’ve kept the weathering broader and more restrained. That gives the eye somewhere to rest before moving into the densely detailed rear section. The opening canopy reveals the pilot’s seat, adding another area to explore.

I pictured this Y-Wing returning from attacks on Imperial shipping, repaired between sorties and sent back out with its armour still bearing the marks of the last mission.
